Dental Checkups & Teeth Cleanings

It is recommended that you attend two dental checkups and cleanings each year. During these appointments, we will identify early signs of dental decay, infection, misalignment, and damage with the help of digital X-rays. Dr. Schnackenberg will work with you to develop a treatment plan if problems are found. Then, one of our dental hygienists will remove accumulated plaque and tartar from your teeth and gums to ensure you leave with a healthier smile.

Gum Disease Treatment

During each dental checkup, one of our hygienists will perform periodontal charting to check the health of your gum tissue. If redness, inflammation, bleeding, and recession are discovered, we will discuss administering gum disease treatment. Depending on the progression of the infection, we will recommend scaling and root planing, antibiotic therapy, or a deep cleaning. We’ll also suggest regular periodontal maintenance to reduce the chances of reinfection.

Nightguards for Bruxism

Teeth grinding, also known as “bruxism,” often occurs while a person is asleep and can be caused by stress, a misaligned bite, or certain medications. Prolonged practice can lead to enamel erosion, jaw pain, and frequent headaches; however, our team can reduce these symptoms with a custom nightguard crafted from your smile impressions. Designed for comfort and durability, its placement over the top row of teeth prohibits the arches from touching and causing further damage over time.

TMJ Treatment

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder, or TMD, is the result of overworked jaw joints becoming inflamed or damaged. Dr. Schnackenberg can remedy the problem by offering customized occlusal splints and adjustments to help move the jaw back into a more comfortable and fully functional position. Not only will you no longer be in pain, but you’ll be able to freely open your mouth to eat and speak without uncomfortable popping or clicking.

Sleep Apnea Treatment

Dr. Schnackenberg and our team can treat sleep apnea in our Orlando dental office with oral appliance treatment, which is excellent for patients who aren’t tolerant of their CPAP treatment. Offering at-home sleep testing and custom oral appliances, we will work with you to develop a plan that produces better sleep by reducing the number of episodes you experience each night, improving your oxygen flow, and reducing snoring.
